Preorder: Portal I

After the fall of Joanne’s, I photographed the last of the art supplies through a microscope, then layered the images together digitally and painted them. This created a portal to another dimension. I invite you to travel through it. It’s probably safe on the other side.Limited edition run on archival cold press paper. Three will be signed and numbered. Certificate of authenticity included.

Function follows material.

To create these works, I amalgamate images -
of marks I made, of post consumer trash, of moments when g-d did or did not appear -
I use digital tools to layer the images, playing with the light, scale, and relationships -
until the texture of the dream world is revealed.

These works invite the beholder to dream into the spaces around them -

to fill the world with presence, to inspire them to show up, and to create resources and beauty from the materials around them.

INFODUMP : 37 PIctures of This Rotten Tomato

Hector grew this "suffer well" tomato, which it became soft on the way to our kitchen. A vein of mold flourished at the place were the skin split. I set the tomato on a plate in the light box, catching the transformation of the slowly seeping liquid and the loss of structural integrity within the fruit.
