2022. Pastrami Summoning. Digital, with photos from Canter's Deli. This was the first completed digital pentimenti, and the first time I used the iconic YB signature in the lower right hand corner. I had been working with jewish foods earlier in the year, and the opportunity to photograph at canter's deli was very exciting.
We were missing Jake, who we had just dropped off at camp for the first time, so I used his electric candles for shabbat. Their reflection in the mirror was an intentional effect, executed in a way that delighted me. Also layered in the background is a digital trace of my l'dor vador latke.
Postcards of this work were distributed in Sacramento and Oakland in 2023.
