I painted this in 2018. Anish Kapoor had invented blackest black, which is not available to every artist because it's toxic and requires special handling. As a response, Stuart Stemple created bluest blue and pinkest pink, and then started to shill NFTs. I found myself pointlessly arguing with him on Twitter about his choices, until I stopped and picked up a paintbrush instead.
This piece is called Pink Enough, and is made of paints I had available at the time. It features a bag of lemons, because I was getting annoyed at real artists who paint individual lemons on exquisite canvasses with special minerals while the rest of us are scraping by.
I see a lot of gender allegory in it now. I'd like it to go to someone who gets it.
